Still pondering. (Budget Part II)
So, it’s midnight and I still can’t wrap my head around this budget. Republicans are known to worship Regan, but its seems Bush is still their guy. This is evident in their budget proposal: keeping the 2001 tax cuts, trying to privatize medicaid, and increasing Pentagon spending. I can’t seem to accept that they missed the whole 2008 election. A clear dismissal of the Bush policies by the American people: 20-30% approval ratings, democrats gaining majorities in both houses, and the some odd 350+ electoral votes Obama won. The only benefit I can see to this unbelievable budget might be fundraising?? Since they obviously have no shot at passing a budget anyway, they are sending a clear message to coporate America and the weathly: “This is what waits for you if we get back in power!” I feel like there is a great lesson to be learned here, if I can just figure out their intentions.
